Known for his rich textures and atmospheric imagery, Tom Matucci balances abstraction and representation into an exquisite fusion that pushes traditional boundaries of painting. Moody landscapes are surrounded by complex textures. A tactile look is achieved, delighting the sense of touch as well as sight. His work has a captivating earthy quality that strikes a primordial chord with the viewer. Tom works intuitively, evolving from his inner self. He never knows how a painting will end up; he lets the process guide him. Matucci's work is at once dynamic and powerful, quiet and moody. His paintings have been called dimensional poetry, conveying a textural story left to the viewer's own interpretation. Tom's artwork has been exhibited in solo and group shows. His work may be found in galleries nationwide and in private and corporate collections worldwide. His collectors span the globe from Napa Valley to Hollywood, Chicago to Boston, South Africa to Paris. Please call the gallery for pricing on individual paintings. The artist is also available for commissions, allowing the buyer to specify size, subject matter and color. | |||||||||||

Heather McAlpine
Heather McAlpine was born in Scotland in 1962. She moved to London to study where she earned a BA in Fine Art (1st class Honors) from the University of East London and an MA in painting from the Royal College of Art. McAlpine says: “The West Coast forests and sea have provided inspiration for my recent paintings. Armed with my camera and macro lens, I collect images of seaweed, leaves and lichen. They provide the ‘raw materials,’ the starting point for my work in the studio. The actual material of paint and the painterly marks serve as metaphors for energy, movement and growth. Rich texture is achieved by building up layers of color, suggesting time and evolution. During the process, the images become pared down, leaving elemental marks. My ultimate aim is to explore the relationships between abstraction, color and the vitality of the natural world.” Heather has exhibited widely in the UK, including Oxford, Southampton and London, including the Royal Academy Summer Show. Emigrating to Vancouver in 1999, she continues to be inspired by the natural world. |

Kathleen Doud Reilley |
Kathleen Doud Reilley, a fourth generation resident of Ventura, California, was born into a family of artists. She grew up with easels, paints, pastels, art classes and gallery visits. She received her B.A. from Chico State, with a major in Liberal Studies and a minor in Art. After a teaching career lasting several years, she turned to serigraphs for the next 20 years, printmaking on paper, fabrics and tiles. Her focus on encaustic painting only began in 2003. Doud Reilley’s compositions are paintings in the encaustic medium, representing aspects of nature, from landscapes to seascapes, often focusing on the horizon line, the line that separates us from our place on earth and the heavens. Encaustic paint consists of beeswax and pigment with a resin base. It must be heated before application, each layer of paint fused to the layer beneath. Encaustic paint can be opaque or translucent, giving a unique depth to the finished product. And, when heated, the beeswax smells divine, often attracting hummingbirds to the sweet honeyed fragrance in Kathleen’s studio. |

Michael Rozenvain |
Michael Rozenvain was born in Kiev in the Ukraine in 1963. He attended art school in Kiev and later studied at the Lvov Academy of Applied Art. He immigrated to Israel in 1990. The sensual language and texture takes precedence over the subject matter, but the flowers are always present in all their rich full-blown glory. Vitality is unquestionably the foremost feature of his subject matter and stays in the mind’s eye long after seeing his work. Rozenvain has exhibited his work throughout the United States and Israel, as well as Johannesburg and the UK. |

Sacha Barrette (“Sacha”) |
Born in Saguenay Lac St-Jean in 1965, Sacha left his native region for Montreal, obtained his Bachelor’s degree in graphic design from the University of Quebec in 1982 and worked in the visual arts field for numerous advertising firms. During this time, he taught private painting classes until he decided to devote himself entirely to his art. Sacha works with color in such a way as to keep its original purity, thereby giving the subject its unique shape, texture and light, all applied “almost flat.” Hence, the colors are allowed to express themselves. His travels throughout Canada, Latin America and the United States have allowed him to build his palette of colors and reaffirm his style. His work is exhibited throughout North and South America. |

Philip Saxon |
Philip Saxon was born and raised in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. His passion for art began in 6th grade during a class field trip to the Milwaukee Art Museum. He went on to earn a BFA at the University of Wisconsin (Milwaukee) and a MFA at Northern Illinois University. Saxon’s work is strongly influenced by the work of the early modernists, especially Picasso, Matisse, Nolde and Giacometti. His paintings express his own journey of self-discovery and self-disclosure. Believing that we all experience a common range of emotions in life, Saxon attempts to convey, in abstract terms, these universal experiences. His objective is to provoke a personal response in the viewer as well. Saxon lives and works in Racine, Wisconsin with his wife of 20 years. His drawings and paintings have been included in numerous exhibitions and collections throughout the United States. |
